[jira] Created: (OFBIZ-841) Due to the last css changes the calendar popup is not able to fit to it's window

Nicolas Malin (Jira)
Due to the last css changes the calendar popup is not able to fit to it's window
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: OFBIZ-841
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-841
Project: OFBiz (The Open for Business Project)
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: framework
            Reporter: Rashko Rejmer
            Priority: Trivial
         Attachments: js_calendar.patch

If you invoke a calendar popup you will see that the calendar is not able to fit in it's window. The saturdays and sundays are hidden. I think that is happening because of the last changes of the css tyles. To fix this bug I propose a patch but I am not shure that it is the best solution.

This is an old issue.  For some reason FF doesn't size the window appropriately.  IIRC, attempts to fix it in FF broke it in IE.

The interesting thing is, calendar.html doesn't even use the new style sheet, so I can't understand why that would have an effect on it.

My recommendation would be to move the popup calendar's styles to both of the main style sheets, then style it to be the correct size. Doing that would also enable the popup calendar to inhereit the project's look and feel.

Rashko Rejmer commented on OFBIZ-841:
-------------------------------------

Hi Adrian, Chris,

I checked once again the styles of the calendar and I found that new styles are not responsible for that bug. Next I was intrested why this is not happening in the ecommerce app. The reason is that the calendar popup in ecommerce is accessed through http. If we invoke this calendar popup from another app it is accessed through https. When page is accessed through https, FF adds label at the footer of the browser(in my case "localhost:8443") so this footer becomes wider than 150 px.

What do you think, are we supposed to close this issue?

Regards,
Rashko Rejmer

Yes this is an old known problem (I reported it in another case : use of plugins that put icons in status bar, same bad effect) and I'm afraid we can't do anything about that apart to use something else as calendar. I have nothing to propose now but I think that the calendar we use for now is too slow to pop up and has this drawback.

Anybody an idea to replace this calendar ?

I changed this and it worked for me. I always had this problem with the calendar.
Checked in IE6 and FF 2.0.0.3
Please try with other browsers and OS

I think that the calendar applet should be changed or customized, because it always shows dates in only one language, the day and month names are harcoded.

Guido,

I tried to apply your patch but I can't because it's oudated. Also please :

1) don't use absolute pathes
2) don't use tabulations but 4 spaces
3) to clarify  points above, read carefully http://docs.ofbiz.org/display/OFBADMIN/OFBiz+Contributors+Best+Practices

I agree, at the moment I see at least this problems remaining with the current calendar (sorted by importance degree for me)
a) slow
b) not localisable
c) not compatible with Firefox  and https (as reported by you, I did not try because having already point d below)
d) not compatible with Firefox extensions who play with status bar (adding icons, etc.)
