mod_rewrite vs mod_jk

Daniel Kunkel
Hi

I'm trying to compare the relative advantages between mod_rewrite and
mod_jk for a new OFBiz installation.

mod_rewrite seems to be better from the perspective that it's easier to
implement with multiple virtual servers, and setup to run as a non-root
user, but it seems that ssl security can be by bypassed by a man in the
middle apache proxy.

mod_jk on the other hand is a bit more complex to configure and debug,
but works well, and is more secure out of the box.

The major disadvantage with mod_jk seems to be that you need to run as
root if you want to use port 80 unless you do magic with Apache's
Commons Daemon Project's jsvc.

[By the way...  has anyone considered integrating jsvc support into OFBiz? (I
don't think there would be any licensing issues LOL.) ]

Any thoughts?

Thanks
