turning off duplicate inventory when duplicating product?

Si Chen-2
If it's all right with everybody, I'd like to turn "duplicate
inventory items" by default from on to off from the "Duplicate
Product" menu in the Catalog Manager.  I've found most people seem to
want to create a duplicate of the product but not all of its
inventory as well--and duplicating inventory obviously has serious
accounting implications as well.

Sounds good to me.

It looks like you're doing a bunch of these little refinements right
now... I hope that means you have a paying client with whom you're
working through this.

Whatever the case, they look good and thanks for your contributions.

Si, David

What do you think about hiding or removing that feature completely
unless or until something could be done to alert users to the effects on
the accounts if they try to use it.

Well, it would be turned off by default.  I don't know about removing
or hiding it--there may be people out there who are using it and are
OK because they don't do accounting with the system.
