I apologize in advance to anyone who has read my download instructions. (http://www.myofbiz.com/cms01) "Hot To Get OFBiz Code" document. Sometime between when I wrote this and today I have discovered that the download package does not contain the necessary ofbiz.jar file. Don't know what happen to the packaging of the download, but this file is no longer in the distribution. It is essential for starting up OFBiz. What to do: If you download a packaged "zip" file and are following my instructions (after Step 3 and before Step 4), run the following command from the command line: *ant run-install* This may take a minute or two. This command creates the necessary ofbiz.jar file. Once this is finished, proceed to Step 4. Sorry for any inconvenience. A JIRA has been submitted and I will fix the instructions today to account for this change in packaging. Check your JIRA issue - Jacopo has answered and this is not how official Apache releases are done. You will need to change your documentation - at least until the project distributes a different type of zip for this release than the official Apache release.

I would like to see a
ant run-install before the instructions to change the DB. with a comment that the demo software has been loaded into the embedded Derby db so they can get familiar and make sure all is working. then make a copy of the entityengine.xml as the original switch to their chosen DB and make a copy of the changed entityengine.xml and to just an ant run-install=-extseed to set up the production Db. This give the user a quick way to change back and forth, if they experience problems. You read it here first! Thanks Tim for pointing this out. BTW, the README file and the documentation on the web site should be changed. It is misleading as is the download site. Ruth:
the 9.04 zip file is frozen so any additions in the SVN will not be added till a 9.04.1 is released. might want to make that clear to your users. ========================= BJ Freeman http://bjfreeman.elance.com Strategic Power Office with Supplier Automation <http://www.businessesnetwork.com/automation/viewforum.php?f=52> Specialtymarket.com <http://www.specialtymarket.com/> Systems Integrator-- Glad to Assist Chat Y! messenger: bjfr33man <http://www.linkedin.com/profile?viewProfile=&key=1237480&locale=en_US&trk=tab_pro> Ruth Hoffman sent the following on 6/25/2010 8:50 AM: > Users: > > You read it here first! > > Thanks Tim for pointing this out.
