Dev - ASF - updated STATUS page for the Incubator

Jacopo Cappellato
David W. (and others),

attached to this message you'll find an updated version of the OFBiz's
status page for the Apache Software Foundation's Incubator.

I've checked out the one in:
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/public/trunk/site-author/projects/

and I've updated it to point the ofbiz.org website, mailing lists, Jira
tracker, Wiki site (also I've commented a few sections). I've not
changed anything below the "Incubation status reports" section... I
think that this is something for mentors.

What do you think of it? In my opinion, now it could be ready to be
published. Then we will update it as soon as resources are migrated to
the ASF infrastructure.

Jacopo

Re: Dev - ASF - updated STATUS page for the Incubator

David E. Jones

This looks pretty good to me. I guess this is meant to be the initial
document, and as we migrate tools we'll update this document?

I tweaked it a bit more, ran the build.sh script and committed that to
SVN.  I still need to add OFBiz in the index file, but that'll have to
wait till this evening.  I also need to read up on how to publish it
on the web site.

Thanks for your help Jacopo,

The Apache Software Foundation Apache Incubator

OFBiz Project Incubation Status

This page tracks the project status, incubator-wise. For more general project status, look on the project website.

This is the first phase on incubation, needed to start the project at Apache.

Item assignment is shown by the Apache id. Completed tasks are shown by the completion date (YYYY-MM-dd).

....-..-.. If request from an existing Apache project to adopt an external package, then ask the Apache project for the SVN module and mail address names.
....-..-.. If request from outside Apache to enter an existing Apache project, then post a message to that project for them to decide on acceptance.
....-..-.. If request from anywhere to become a stand-alone PMC, then assess the fit with the ASF, and create the lists and modules under the incubator address/module names if accepted.

Incubation

These action items have to be checked for during the whole incubation process.

These items are not to be signed as done during incubation, as they may change during incubation. They are to be looked into and described in the status reports and completed in the request for incubation signoff.

Collaborative Development

  • Have all of the active long-term volunteers been identified and acknowledged as committers on the project?
  • Are there three or more independent committers? (The legal definition of independent is long and boring, but basically it means that there is no binding relationship between the individuals, such as a shared employer, that is capable of overriding their free will as individuals, directly or indirectly.)

Re: Dev - ASF - updated STATUS page for the Incubator

Jacopo Cappellato
In reply to this post by davidnwelton
David,

attached you'll find the patch file for the projects' index page: is it ok?

About how to publish everything in the web site, I think that this
extract from the bottom of the following page
http://incubator.apache.org/guides/website.html will help you:

************************
To update the website, the "incubator/site-publish" SVN directory is
checked-out on the apache.org web server:

ssh people.apache.org
cd /www/incubator.apache.org
svn update
************************

Have a nice day,

Jacopo

Yes.  The status page assists incubating projects and the incubator
project management committee (PMC) in tracking progress.  Keeping this
up to date really helps everyone know how things are going.  David
Welton and I have the ultimate responsibility for it, and for sending
updates to the PMC, but everyone's help in maintaining it is
appreciated.
