The new release branch "10.04" is now available here:
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/ofbiz/branches/release10.04 Checkout instructions are, as usual, here: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBADMIN/OFBiz+Source+Repository+and+Access There is now a new version "Release Branch 10.04" in Jira that can be used to mark Jira tickets that contain patches (or bug reports) specifically addressed to this branch. We will only accept bug fixes for this branch and we will issue official releases over time (tentatively every quarter). To the whole community: please help to stabilize the branch with tests, bug reports and fixes; the quality of the upcoming releases in the 10.04 series will be determined by the activity and contribution of the community. Kind regards, Jacopo |
Thanks Jacopo for all of your hard work to make it happen.
Btw I am not sure if this is a good question to you (and others of course) about commit policy to the release branch. We all know that the main idea behind the release branch is to provide a more stable version of OFBiz. I was just wondering if we could also change the commit policy to back port unit test besides bug fixes. This way there would be more code coverage with the additional unit tests resulted by backporting to the release branch. I am sorry if this has been already discussed in past. It would be good if we could backport the field tooltip messages too.

Keep asking, If there are enough reason, we may come up with some policy that allows for it.
Or may be we create one more release branch as soon as in next two months and kill this branch in its alpha stage itself. This looks like a good idea to me and I don't see why we should not allow to backport automated tests.

I don't see why we need a new "policy." In the past, only bug fixes were applied to release branches, and any other changes were discussed on a case-by-case basis. That process seems to have worked well so far.

My guess is that since we've increased the frequency of building tests that this being a case by case basis would be a pain. I think adding tests to document and improve stability should always be allowed. My two cents.

Chris,
what we coud do to with this feature is to maintain a patch for the 10.04 in a specific JIRA. This would allow everybody (including me) to apply the patch on 10.04 releases. -Bruno 2010/5/1 chris snow <[hidden email]> > It would be good if we could backport the field tooltip messages too. > > Many thanks, chris > > On 1 May 2010 09:59, "Vikas Mayur" <[hidden email]> wrote: > > Thanks Jacopo for all of your hard work to make it happen. > > Btw I am not sure if this is a good question to you (and others of course) > about commit policy to the release branch. > > We all know that the main idea behind the release branch is to provide a > more stable version of OFBiz. > > I was just wondering if we could also change the commit policy to back port > unit test besides bug fixes. > > This way there would be more code coverage with the additional unit tests > resulted by backporting to the release branch. > > I am sorry if this has been already discussed in past. > > Regards > Vikas > > > > > On Sat, May 1, 2010 at 1:28 PM, Jacopo Cappellato < > [hidden email]> wrote: > > > ... > |

Hi BJ,
The patch for displaying the tooltip help was in a few days ago so should be in 10.04. You can see it in action by going to the following link: https://demo-trunk.ofbiz.apache.org/example/control/EditExample?exampleId=10000 Hover over the field labels (e.g. Example Id, Type, etc) and you should see an informative help message. The patches we are talking about here are for providing the actual text that gets displayed when you hover over a field label. Providing the actual text is similar to adding translation messages in property files. Hi Scott,
That's because a default resource has been setup for the entity, but no help text is found for that field. I thought it would be good to display the key so that it may encourage people to submit patches containing help text. Obviously, the current behavior is easily changed if required. Many thanks, Chris On 02/05/10 02:15, Scott Gray wrote: > Maybe it's broken, all I see is things like "FieldDescription.Example.description" on rollover. In fact, if anyone is willing to commit (for 10.04 and trunk), the patch
(productStoreFieldDescriptions2.patch <https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/attachment/12443367/productStoreFieldDescriptions2.patch>) at https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-3747 provides description labels for ProductStore. To me it looked like a bug, I'm guessing it could look like the same to a potential user.

Shall we provide no tooltip if the text isn't provided? Or, even a string
"help not found - please write me!"? On 2 May 2010 12:22, "Scott Gray" <[hidden email]> wrote: To me it looked like a bug, I'm guessing it could look like the same to a potential user.
