Hi Jacques,

Through the discussion, I have posted following three examples, and with your revised patch, only second one can be saved without unescaping:

1. https://example.com/a%20link
2. blah blah blah ... (see http://example.com/a%20link) ...
3. blah blah blah ... (http://example.com/a%20link) ...

I'll investigate this issue when I find time, but it seems that some fundamental changes are needed, so it may take some time.
