This is true for all browser. I found a [very good page in french sorry for the favicon issue|http://www.aful.org/gdt/interop/index/icones-page] I will work on this soon. For me it's a bug, I will put the favicon stuff into each theme.

I have commited a small change at  r765721 that fixes (on Windows XP) the problem in "all" (IE8, Opera, Chrome, Safari) browsers but FF3. It's yet not clear to me why it's not working in FF3.

I will try to follow the advices I found here and there. But I have already tried some of the suggestred combinations and none work, weird...

I tried on Linux with FF3 it worked. I reloaded FF3 on Windows and it works now. BTW I commited the gif file with transparency, but anyway for now only the .ico is used.
